Travelling Tips

Cambodia is one of the famous religious places of the world. If you want to spend your next vacation there, the tips will greatly help you so that you won’t find yourself lost in the new country.

  • Cambodia is next to Vietnam and Thailand, both known for their picturesque breathtaking beauty. In comparison, Cambodia is more subtle and cultural, not so great like its neighbor countries, but obviously better than other tourist attractions. So don’t come here with high hope, otherwise you will be disappointed.
  • If you want to visit Ankor Wat, make a plan accordingly. Go there in early morning or late afternoon to enjoy the scenic place peacefully, when the visitors are not there.
  • Bread is easily available in local market. Eat it with cheese, omelettes, nutella for breakfast and with vegetable curry for lunch or dinner. Breads come handy when you feel hungry or puckish. You will find some restaurants that offer western foods but they are nothing like your home cooked dishes. So it is better to try local cuisine like delicious khamer dishes.
  • Shorts and tank tops are strictly prohibited in temples. Wear lighter cloths for exercise, take hiking shoes for adventure and sandals (not leather ones) for rainy season, so that mud can come off easily.
  • If you don’t have the official currency of Cambodia, riel, no need to worry. Dollar and baht is acceptable almost everywhere. In some places, they cash traveler checks also. Credit card is helpful in some urban places like Siep reap and Phnom Penh. Although you cen get advance cash from Visa card or JCB card in some places like Cambodian Commercial Bank and a few banks in other main cities. From late 2002, Canadian bank and ANZ bank opened some cash machines in Phnom Penh. Your ATM card may or may not work there.
  • In the Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports, visa is available immediately. But if you are going there by land, you should get it before entering in Cambodia. The visa should be marked at entry point, otherwise they can send you back to your country.
  • November to February is the best time to go in Cambodia since the weather is dry. Prefer not to go there in rainy season or summer.
  • Cambodia is not only about temples. You can go to beaches which has lots of bars and restaurants to enjoy lighter atmosphere.

Don’t think twice. Go and enjoy in Cambodia!
