8:00 AM: Your tour will begin early morning to avoid the bustle and chaotic streets of the city. We will meet you outside the popular Brother’s Dhaba. Relish authentic Punjabi food in the morning to start a wonderful day.
Taste the delicious Kulcha (Hot potato bread) and chilled Punjabi Lassi (sweetened yogurt).
9:00 AM: Morning is set for a visit to the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib). Built in the 16th century, the Golden Temple is a popular Sikh Gurdwara. Your guide will narrate the stories of the gurudwara.
The temple has a community kitchen that feeds more than 10,000 people daily. The Sikh believe in the principle of equality and practice of eating together. You can participate in food preparation activity and later get to taste the Langar (food served as offering to large masses). It is very interesting to know that the temple has been serving food to the people from many years, all for free.
Next halt will be at the Jallianwala Bagh (Garden). Today the bagh is a popular public garden that houses a memorial of national importance. The bagh once witnessed massacre of Indians including men, women and children by the British forces. It was later established in 1951 to commemorate the massacre.
Board a cycle-rickshaw and explore the hustle bustle of Amritsari Bazaars. In the evening we will drop you back to your hotel in Amritsar.
