Indian cuisine, which itself comprises of numerous regional cuisines, is famous worldwide. Be it North India’s Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani with naan or paranthas (which has a Mughlai influence), or Maharashtra’s Bhelpuri, Bhajiya, Vada Pav or Paani Puri, or South India’s Idli Dosa or Malabar coastal cuisine, or Kolkatta’s Macher Jhol and Sandesh. There are many reputed Indian restaurants abroad as well and we are proud to have chefs who have put Indian food on the world map. In this 2.5-3 hour experience, you will be hosted by an Indian family who will open up their home and hearts to you. The lunch session will start at 12 PM and if you opt for a dinner session, it will begin at 6 PM.
North Indian food is known for its spices: turmeric, ginger, garlic, coriander, chillies, garam masala and so on. It is important to understand how to use these spices and strike the right balance between them. Our curries and breads are unique and there are hosts of homemade snacks and sweets stocked in every household. Our regular meal consists of rice or breads with lentils (dal) and vegetables (dry or with curry) or a non vegetarian dish. There is usually curd or raita, some salad, pickles or papads, and to wrap it up, a sweet dish of some kind. We love our food and you will too!
In this cooking session, you will be taught how to make a full Indian meal while you watch an Indian family prepare it. Observe which utensils we use for which purpose, how we mix spices, roast them, how we prepare masala, how we garnish our dishes and serve them. In the end, you will get to enjoy this food of course!
